BEIJING, July 20 (InfoChina) – Another six key figures in the team of the Fantasy Westward Journey follow suit, after Xu Bo, the mastermind in the team left Netease.com Inc. (Nasdaq: NTES) and joined Kingsoft, an online games and applications software developer and distributor two months ago, according to Fishman, general manager of Firestone Software. The departure of key members in succession may mark a turning point for Netease online games from zenith to decline, Beijing Stardaily reports.
Netease’s 1Q’06 financial report revealed that the growth rate of two online games that accounted for 90% of its total profit decreased by a big margin and Netease postpones the promotion of Tianxia2 time and again. Netease is encountered with the shortage of new online games and fierce competition from many rivals.
However, Netease has to urgently settle how to keep the current players of the Fantasy Westward Journey after the key developers leave the team.
