BAK Battery enters laptop battery market |

BEIJING, July 25 (InfoChina) – Shenzhen-based China BAK Battery Inc. (OTCBB:CBBT.OB) recently announced in Shanghai that the company had completed its automatic production line of Li battery for laptop computers, with its initial monthly production capacity of 2 million units.
International Finance News reported that this marks the entry of domestic Li battery manufacturer into the laptop battery market.
In recent years, market demand for laptop batteries is on the rise thanks to rapid growth in sales of laptop computers. However the domestic laptop battery market is almost controlled by three foreign producers, namely, Sony, Sanyo and Matsushita with Samsung and LG to share a small proportion.
BAK Battery is the first of its kind in China to break the monopoly of foreign brands.
Domestic laptop computer producers deem that BAK Battery has brought an impetus to the industry, which would help achieve the goal of local purchase and cost reduction.
Major laptop computer producers in the country, including TCL, Lenovo, Great Wall etc. have expressed their interest in strategic cooperation with BAK Battery. |
