BEIJING, August 16 (InfoChina) – NetEase.com (Nasdaq: NTES), China's biggest online gaming company, reported a profit surge of 29% for the second quarter, boosted by better than expected performance of its established online games such as Fantasy Westward Journey and by World Cup-related advertising.
But the company warned that growth would slow in the third quarter due to slacking interest in its games.
In the three months to June, the company’s net profit shot up to 39 million U.S. dollars as revenue jumped 38% to 71.4 million dollars.
Online game sales for the three months climbed 41% year on year to 60.3 million dollars, accounting for 84% of the company’s revenue.
Online advertising sales, which accounted for 12% of revenue, increased 29% year on year to 8.5 million dollars. The company also sells ring tones, games and other products for handset users. |
