BEIJING, Oct. 30 (InfoChina) – Sinopec’s (NYSE:SNP) Yangzi-BASF petrochemical complex located in China’s eastern Jiangsu Province has passed national examination yesterday after over one-year operation.
The 50:50 project was designed to produce 600,000 tons of ethylene per year, with a total investment of 2.9 billion US dollars. The project was put into commercial operation in June 2005. Furthermore, German chemicals group BASF and Chinese partner Sinopec signed an agreement earlier this year to expand their Nanjing petrochemicals complex with an investment of 500 million US dollars. The expansion will involve an increase in cracker capacity by 25 percent and an expansion of downstream capacities. Expanded production will start in 2009. And the investments will be made equally between the partners. |
