Brilliance-BMW to raise production capacity next year PDF Print E-mail

BEIJING, Nov. 27 (InfoChina) – Brilliance-BMW, a joint venture between BMW and Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd. (NYSE: CBA) plans to increase its annual production capacity to 41,000 units next year, Eberhard C. Schrempf, president and CEO of Brilliance-BMW was quoted by the local Shengyang Daily as saying on Auto China 2006 held in Beijing recently.

 BMW joined hands with CBA in May 2004 to jointly produce sedans in Shenyang of northeast China’s Liaoning Province. At present, the annual production capacity of Brilliance-BMW stands at 30,000 units.

China’s demands for high-grade cars are increasing constantly in recently years and the BMW brand is getting more recognition from Chinese consumers, according to Mr. Shrempf, adding that BMW-Brilliance produced and sold 9,303 units of BMW 3 Series and 8,647 units of BMW 5 Series in the first half of this year.

The company exhibited its upgraded BMW 5 Series—BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase on the Beijing international car exhibition and plans to launch the lengthened BMW 5 Series in early December this year, which is to bring a new round of hot selling of BMW-Brilliance cars in China as expected by the company’s CEO.
