BEIJING, Dec. 13 (InfoChina) -- Actions Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: ACTS), a leading chip maker for portable consumer electronics, recently signed distribution agreements with such chip distributors as World Peace Industrial Group (WPI Group) and GMI Technology Inc.

An informed source confirmed that both WPI and FMI were originally distributors for the US chip maker SigmaTel.

GMI spokesperson said that GMI terminated cooperation with SigmaTel in November, but refused to tell the concrete quantity of chip shipment for SigmaTel.

A source with SigmaTel responded that the company’s loss of two distributors would not cast big impact on its chip shipment, and its shipment is on the rise, according to Shanghai Securities News.

Over the past months, Actions Semiconductor has been involved in IPR infringement lawsuit with SigmaTel.

Despite that, Actions Semiconductor reported a record high 3Q sales revenue of 45.70 million US dollars, mainly driven by large shipments. And the company projects revenue of 48-50 million US dollars for 4Q.

“The company estimates that its shipment in 2007 will increase by 30-40 percent from 2006, largely as a result of high market acceptance of its new products”, a source with Actions Semiconductor was quoted as saying. (Edited by Chen Dongyi, )
