BEIJING, Jan. 4 (InfoChina) – China's leading IC manufacturer Semiconductor Manufacturing International Co. (NYSE: SMI, 0981.HK) announced on Jan. 3 that it had made no decision about any resulting transaction involving the company or its subsidiaries.

The company made the announcement at the request of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, after rumors about it being a possible acquisition target sent its stock prices to skyrocket.

Before the announcement, the share price of SMIC went up by about 22 percent on the NYSE market and about 13 percent on the Hong Kong market. (Edited by Li Xiaoyu, )
