             BEIJING, Feb. 12 (InfoChina) – Lanzhou Aluminum (600296.SH), a leading electrolytic aluminum smelter in China, announced on February 12 that it made 278.27 million yuan in net profit in 2006, jumping 147.74 percent over the previous year.

            The return on net assets of Lanzhou Aluminum reached 8.77 percent, up from 3.90 percent in 2005. The earnings per share reached 0.513 yuan, up 0.306 yuan than that in 2005.

            The company made 3.5 billion yuan in main operating turnover in 2006, surging 26.21 percent year on year. Aluminum ingots contributed 3.2 billion yuan, the biggest contributor, while aluminum processing products contributed 1.2 billion yuan, with internal consumption amounting to 958 million yuan.

            Lanzhou Aluminum attributed the good performance to the growth of aluminum output and price rise in 2006. The output of aluminum ingots totaled 172,000 tons, up 3.51 percent year on year; that of anodic carbon reached 79,500 tons, up 1.69 percent; that of aluminum products topped 60,000 tons, rising 20.03 percent.

            Besides, the company also made great progress in cutting down energy consumption and improving management last year.
