Net profit of Shandong Aluminum up 19.6 pct in 2006

BEIJING, Feb. 12 (InfoChina) – Shandong Aluminum (600205.SH), one of China’s leading alumina producer, announced on February 12 that it made a net profit of 1.04 billion yuan in 2006, rising 19.6 percent year on year.
2006 was a tough year for alumina producers with continuous slumps of alumina price. In order to fill up the price loss, Shandong Aluminum strived to increase its alumina output and sales to historical high.
It produced 1.2843 million tons of alumina in 2006, up 8.83 percent over the preceding year. The output of electrolytic aluminum totaled 125,700 tons, increasing 25.2 percent year on year. The sales revenue amounted to 6.081 billion yuan, jumping 27.2 percent.
The return on net assets was 25.68 percent in 2006, 0.92 percentage points lower than that in 2005. The earnings per share were 1.5476 yuan, up 19.6 percent year on year.
For 2007, Shandong Aluminum plans to produce 1.455 million tons of alumina and 75,000 tons of electrolytic aluminum.
