BEIJING, March 14 (InfoChina) – Along with the operation of a newly overhauled carbon calcining furnace, the Henan branch of Aluminum Corp of China (Chalco, ACH.NYSE, 2600.HK) is expected to export more than 100,000 tons of carbon to the United States, Germany and the United Arab Emirates in 2007.

In order to meet the soaring demand for carbon, the branch overhauled the original No.3 carbon calcining furnace to bring the annual production capacity of calcined coke up to more than 20,000 tons.

Founded in 2002, the Henan branch is regarded as the biggest alumina production base in Asia. Carbon is the main material for producing electrolytic aluminum. (Edited by Li Xueqing, )
