BEIJING, June 11 (InfoChina) – China Network Communications Corp (CNC) and Asia Netcom Corporation (ANC) jointly announced a new scheme on interconnection between China's mainland and the rest of the world on June 10, which extends the EAC cable system in ANC area to Qingdao city.
According to the scheme, the system will be connected with CNC’s global optical fiber infrastructure facilities seamlessly through its submarine cable landing station in Qingdao.
The new Qingdao router will sharply increase the capacity of both CNC and ANC to provide connections and network services for Chinese mainland and the whole world. At present, EAC is connecting to China only through the landing station in Hong Kong. The new router is expected to become a supplement to the Hong Kong landing spot and a new independent one. It will make CNC and ANC join hands in providing router protection for all services connected to China's mainland.
CNC is the parent company of China Netcom Ltd. (NYSE: CN), which is the second largest fixed telecom operator in China. ANC was once a subsidiary of CNC. (Edited by Li Xiaoyu,
