Sales up 58 pct, Brilliance Auto reports profit in 1H

BEIJING, July 5 (InfoChina) – Brilliance Auto, parent company of Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd. (NYSE: CBA, HK: 1114), this half year sold 146,000 vehicles and gained 18.5 billion yuan in sales revenue, a year-on-year hike of 58 percent that makes the company to report profit for the first time.
Company sales executives say the company planned to realize sales revenue of 40 billion yuan by selling 300,000 vehicles in 2007, and by 2010, to sell 500,000 units to gain 80 billion yuan of sales revenue.
Brilliance’s hit product Zhonghua cars have maintained a monthly sales record of more than 10,000 units for six consecutive months.
In the meantime, the company’s overseas presence is expanding as well. In this first half, the automaker’s franchised overseas dealers have risen from 33 to 41 in number, expandable to 53 by the end of 2007.
Brilliance in the first half exported 7,000-odd complete cars, valued at 414 million yuan in total, representing an increase of 125 percent year on year. (Edited by Lin Fanjing,
