BEIJING, July 5 (InfoChina) – China’s leading online travel agency Ctrip.com (Nasdaq: CTRP) launched on July 4 three Europe-bound group tour routes departing from Chengdu, capital of southwest China’s Sichuan province.
It is the third city after Shanghai and Beijing where Ctrip has launched such services.
Such services mainly target at high-end travel markets. Despite they are more expensive than the same kind of traditional travel agencies, such high-quality services are favored by a group of Chinese citizens that have got richer faster than others.
It is learned that Ctrip will expand the number of routes for outbound tours to 20 by yearend for travelers in Chengdu and neighboring regions.
Chengdu has been chosen by Ctrip as a primary city for the company’s strategic development, together with Beijing and Shanghai. Meanwhile, Ctrip has recently reached cooperation with a local cultural and travel company to co-promote the city’s travel market both home and abroad. (Edited by Chen Dongyi,
