BEIJING, August 1 (InfoChina) - UTStarcom, Inc. (Nasdaq: UTSI) announced on July 31 that it has successfully completed a rigorous security audit on its IPTV digital rights management (DRM) system.
The audit results show that the strength of UTStarcom’s DRM solution is among the highest that Merdan has audited. Meanwhile, all aspects of the solution were given the highest ratings, with the exception of one aspect involving the Set Top Box installation that was given the second highest rating.
UTStarcom’s DRM system will reinforce its delivery of IPTV products and capability of developing end-to-end IPTV system. At present, the company has no plan to offer its DRM solution as a standalone product.
In June 2006, UTStarcom commissioned security-engineering firm Merdan Group, Inc. to start the audit. Merdan completed the security audit in April 2007. (Edited by Yang Liu,
