BEIJING, Aug. 7 (InfoChina) – China’s import of automotive commodities like engines and spare parts kept a steady growth in the first half of this year with import value exceeding seven billion US dollars.
Statistics show that import of engines, spare parts, fittings, vehicle bodies, tires and other auto related commodities reached 7. 266 billion US dollars in the first half of this year, accounting for 62 percent of the total. In breakdowns, the import of engines stood at 697 million US dollars, up 16.43 percent year-on-year; that of automotive spare parts, fittings and vehicle bodies, 6.124 billion US dollars, up 14. 33 percent; that of tires of automobiles and motorcycles, 94 million US dollars, up 20.36 percent; that of auto related commodities, 351 million US dollars, down 10.75 percent from that in the same 2006 period. The import of some key automotive spare parts grew sharply. The import of air bags totaled 165 million US dollars, up 1.2 times; that of gear boxes, 1.461 billion US dollars, up 66.09 percent; that of driving axles, 52 million US dollars, up 1.8 times, and that of dampers, 95 million US dollars, up 2.2 times.
