BEIJING, Aug. 9 (InfoChina) – UBS recently invested 97.959 million Hong Kong dollars to increase its holdings in China Telecom (NYSE: CHA, HK: 0728), on the prospect that issuance of 3G licenses is looming.
It is learned that the bank bought 22.54 million China Telecom shares at the cost of 97.959 million Hong Kong dollars, or 4.36 Hong Kong dollars per share.
The additional shares accounts for 0.16 percent of the total equity of China Telecom, bringing the bank’s total shareholding in the telecom company to 7.13 percent, close to that of Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the second largest shareholders of China Telecom. (Edited by Zhu Zhu,
