BEIJING, Aug. 9 (InfoChina) - China Telecom recently announced that it would adjust charges on international IP phone business from September 1.

The charges on calls to 12 countries/regions as Iceland and Panama would be lowered, while calls to other 47 countries/regions fees will be lifted up, with the biggest upward adjustment as large as 226 percent, form 4.6 yuan per minute to 15 yuan per minute.

The company claimed that this round of charge adjustment was based on the ground that the cost price of calls to some countries/regions were higher than corresponding selling prices, which may result in illegal arbitrage.

China Unicom and China Netcom simultaneously lifted their charges on IP business in June. (Edited by Zhu Zhu, )
