BEIJING, Aug. 22 (InfoChina) – Brilliance Auto (CBA.NYSE) has started construction of its second production base in southwest China’s Sichuan Province, targeting Southeast Asian market, Shenyang Daily reported.
The construction consists of two stages. By 2010, the second phase of the project, costing 1 billion yuan, is scheduled for completion, with the capacity topping 150,000 tons.
Upon completion, Brilliance will handle two production bases in both south and north China.
The new base will mainly dedicate to making models of Brilliance Jinbei series, including light buses, commercial vehicles, SUV, pick-ups, mini-trucks and newly innovated products.
It is learned that Brilliance hopes to make the project an important base to export motor vehicles to Southeast Asian market. (Edited by Li Xueqing,
