BEIJING, Aug. 30 (InfoChina) – China’s IC industry can’t meet its domestic demand, due to such problems of comparatively small industrial scale, low industrial development level and lack of high-end IC products, said Gou Zhongwen, vice minister of Chinese Ministry of Information Industry.
China’s IC market took up nearly 30 percent of the world market and the Chinese IC industry is still growing at 33 percent per year, but 90 percent of the domestic IC demand is met by imports.
Enterprises in the IC industry should pay attention to technology originality and actively participate in drawing up domestic technology standards, so as to grab the market ahead of others, according to Wang Qinsheng, vice chairman of China Semiconductor Industry Association.
Competent government bodies could shorten time for patent examination and approval, which will accelerate the development of IC industry in China, noted Zhang Rujing, CEO of Shanghai-based Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC, NYSE: SMI, HK: 0981). (Edited by Chen Dongyi,
