BEIJING, Sept. 3 (InfoChina) – China Telecom (NYSE: CHA, HK: 0728) recently announced that it would join hands with China’s largest mobile search engine Yicha to co-launch “search services” on its Little Smart Handsets, and the cooperation will last for a term of three years, according to China Business News.

China Telecom currently has 65 million subscribers of Little Smart, which is regarded to be an important stake for China Telecom to win in the looming competition to grasp subscribers of pending 3G services.

Earlier, China Mobile also inked an agreement with Google on mobile search.

While China Telecom is expected to get a license to operate a 3G network, it is beset with a question how it will compete with China Mobile and China Unicom. Analysts deem that added services on Little Smart will increase users’ stickiness to China Telecom.

Market researcher iResearch said that Yicha has a near 50 percent share in China’s mobile search market. (Edited by Chen Dongyi, )
