        BEIJING, Sept. 3 (InfoChina) – The 12-inch foundry in Shanghai of Semiconductor   Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC, NYSE: SMI, HK: 0981) has started trial production.

The world-leading production line will produce 90-nm and finer chips.

By far, SMIC has three 8-inch foundries in Shanghai, two 12-inch foundries in Beijing and one 8-inch foundry in Tianjin, and runs and manages one 8-inch and one 12-inch foundry in Chengdu and Wuhan respectively.

Zhang Rujin, president and CEO of SMIC, attributed the company’s growth to huge market demand, abundant talent resources and governmental support. (Edited by Chen Dongyi, )
