SMIC’s 12-inch chip foundry kicks off trial production

BEIJING, Sept. 3 (InfoChina) – The 12-inch foundry in Shanghai of Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC, NYSE: SMI, HK: 0981) has started trial production.
The world-leading production line will produce 90-nm and finer chips.
By far, SMIC has three 8-inch foundries in Shanghai, two 12-inch foundries in Beijing and one 8-inch foundry in Tianjin, and runs and manages one 8-inch and one 12-inch foundry in Chengdu and Wuhan respectively.
