SHANGHAI, Sept. 5 (InfoChina) – Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC, NYSE: SMI, HK: 0981) needs time to make a best choice in leveraging shareholder value through different strategies, said a company source, in response to recent market hearsay concerning its capital cooperation with several potential investors.
It is learned that the company has established a special committee to deal with matters related to introduction of investors, yet a process is needed to take the best one out of several potential partners.
Industry insiders note that once capital cooperation reached, monthly output of SMIC will be lifted by 40 percent.
SMIC ranked third among world’s top 10 chip foundries in first half of 2007, according to Gartner. (Edited by Chen Dongyi,
